So, after hearing some buzz on MUA about Revlon's being spotted at Big Lot, I decided to drop in and see what I could find.
I got backups of Perplex, Galaxy and Star. Also a color called Bewitching Bordeaux, which looks like a vampy brown cream and these two colors. All of them were $1 each and there were plenty there.
This is a scented color called Coconut Crush. I usually shy away from whites, but I adore all things coconut so I grabbed it. It's actually quite cute.
and this is Gum Drop, another scented color. It's a pastel purple. Again, not my usual vampy, but it just looked so Spring to me, I had it have it ☺

OPI Black Shatter!
Too many layers? Never!
Do you every have one of those days when you take your time, pick your color and finish a manicure, but just aren't satisfied with the results? I started off with a nice blacked red color, Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine in Sparkling. Now I love me a good blackened red...in fact that's probably my favorite nail shade.
Here it is:
Yes, pretty, but I needed something more...it had no umph. So I added Ulta's Bombshell. I figured it'd add a little sparkle without changing the base color too much:
Ok, better, but it still wasn't doing it for me. So, I decided "when in doubt, add flakies". So I added a thin layer of Nfu Oh's 44 and Ok, awesome! Just look at the sparkles and flakie combo:

Now that's what I needed ☺

NYC Nail Glossies 248B
I've been tagged ♥
Miranda from Mirannie's Nails just tagged me for this award, thank you ☺
Questions:
1. When and how did you start your love for polish?
My BF turned me on the the MUA polish board about a year ago and I've been into polish ever since.
2. If you could choose to do anything in the world, what would it be? (Eg. Ski in the Swiss alps, fly in a fighter jet, create a unicorn etc.)
Get over my fear of heights and skydive.
3. What's your favorite love story?
Oooh, this is a tough one cuz I'm a sap. Movie wise, I adore When Harry Met Sally. I also really love the Twilight books.
Here are the rules:
Choose 3 - 5 Blogs you would like to tag and link them too. Leave them a comment on their blog that you've linked them.
Important: This award is for unknown blogs, so don't tag some 3000-Reader-Blogs! :)
The blogs I would like to tag are:
The Polished Perfectionist
Yesterday's Nails
Polish Freshie
Just Peachy

NOTD: Wet and Wild Blue Moon franken
Today's color is WnW's Blue Moon. I frankened it by adding some of the Fantasy Makers holo glitter. I swatched it on a nail wheel a couple of weeks ago, but here it is as an actual mani.
and just for fun, taking inspiration from Chloe's Nails again, I added a checkerboard to my ring finger:

Zoya Crystal
Crystal is one of my 3 free Zoyas. I was originally going to get Charla instead, but for some reason I changed my mind at the last minute....and boy am I glad. Charla has alot of dupes out there, but Crystal is so pretty and unique....although it reminds me a bit of OPI's Absolutely Alice in a way. Crystal is an ice blue base with gold flakes.

Cover Girl Mattalic Triple Platinum + Ice Slicks Anti-Freeze
Here's the second Cover Girl 2-pack I picked up. The first color is another mattalic called Triple Platinum. These are really cool! I wish they had more colors than these two.
and now what are the odds that my nail crush, Scrangie, just posted Anti-Freeze?? I almost don't want to show my pick!! LOL. Obviously looking at her's I should have layered this over a darker color ☺
ok, so inspired by Scrangie, here are Pink Ice and Anti Freeze over Color Club Bewitching:

Cover Girl Mattalic Bronze + Ice Slick Pink Ice
I just found this little gem at the Dollar Tree yesterday. At first I didn't get the name Matt-allic. It's a matte metallic....duh! Some days I'm just a little slow. This reminds me of Orly's Glam Rock a bit. It's not as matte as the Orly, although this pick make it look shiner than it does in real life.
and it was packaged with a "nail glaze" called Pink Ice. This is one layer. The glitter is pretty subtle.

Jade Mutual Consent
Jade is similar to Sation and Chelsea. All three have the same bottles and are similar in formula. This color is called Mutual Consent and it's a light purple base with green shimmer. It seems to show it's shimmer in non-direct sunlight best...kinda wired, cuz it's usually the opposite.
Here is its in sunlight:

Maybelline Express Finish Purple Aluminum - funky french
One of my favorite blogs is Chloe's Nails. She's always using scotch tape to come up with all sorts of cool designs, but her signature look is a funky french with black tips. So she inspired my NOTD. The base is Maybelline Express Finish in Purple Aluminum. I didn't use tape for the tips (I don't have the patience!) instead I used Color Club striper black holographic polish.

Nubar Shock: Peacock Feathers and Olive Spice
So, to end duochrome week, I have two colors today. The first one is Peacock Feathers. PF flashes blue, purple and green with gold shimmer depending on the angle and sunlight.
Here it is in the shade (make sure to click the pick for a larger view):
and in the sunlight:
The second color is Olive Spice. OS is a pinkish gold base with a definite green flash to it. Kind of a unique combo:
and depending on the angle and sunlight, just look at the green:
Well, I hope you liked duochrome week, I had fun with all the colors. I ordered 14 of the Catherine Arley holo polishes, so when they arrive (hopefully not broken!), I'll have holo week ☺

Stevie Nicks news + OPI La Boheme
As you can probably tell from the name of the blog, I'm a huge Stevie fan (putting it mildly!). Stevie's new album is available for pre-order if anyone is interested. If you preorder, you get a free mp3 of her new single, Secret Love. I am so super excited for the new album/tour!!!!!
Today's color isn't really a full on duochrome, but I still think it falls into this category. The base is a beautiful maroony red with a golden shimmer in the sunlight. The bottle will sometimes reflect green as well, but I've never seen the green show up on the nail.
This is a good shot of the gold shimmer:
Wow, that's pretty! I've been dying to find Orly's Lunar Eclipse after reading this post on MUA. What an amazing combo!!!

Borghese Stellare Notte
My only Borghese color is Stellare Notte. SN is a dark kinda blurply base that has a strong teal and purple flash.
Here we have her in the shade:
and sunlight. Here's the teal flash (look toward the pinky and ring fingers). Now i do have to say the teal is much more noticeable than the photo shows. I just couldn't seem to capture that color, but believe me, it's there:
and here's the purple:

Nubar Shock: Sea Green
I've posted Sea Green before here but I don't think my previous post did the color justice. Sea Green is a green base that has a strong blue flash to it. My last post didn't really capture both colors well and I think these photos show it off much nicer.
Here it is in shade:
and look how awesome in sunlight:
This is one of the old "Shock by Nubar" bottles. I checked and I don't see Sea Green listed on Nubar's website. It's an amazing color, I don't know why they don't make it anymore. Most of my Shocks are still available. I think Olive Spice is the other one they discontinued and I'll be posting that one later this week.

Chelsea: Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope is similar to Tropic of Cancer, but Kaleidoscope doesn't really have any blue to it like TOC does. Kaleidoscope has a purple base and both colors have a strong green flash and some gold shimmer.
Look at the gold shimmer in the bottle:
I don't think Chelsea makes anymore duochromes...I'll have to check. Cuz there are a bunch of dusties that carry a ton of their colors, I've just never really spent time looking through all of them. Does anyone else have any Chelsea color recommendations? The only other two I have are Oscar Blue and Salsa.
