Nabi: #60 New Gold Glitter

My 1st ever concert was in 1990 and I saw Faster Pussycat and Motley Crue on the Dr. Feelgood tour, and tonight I have tickets to see Motley Crue open for Kiss. I haven't seen them since my 1st show, so I'm pretty excited. This means I need some bling for the nails, so I decided to wear Nabi #60, New Gold Glitter.

NGG is a mixture of gold irregular shaped glitter, skinny holo bar glitter and bits of tiny red hexes. Unfortunately, I had the bright idea to sear this over Orly Buried Alive and the Nabi glitter just gets swallowed up in it.

Here's a closeup:

and I thought it best to show off the Nabi solo as well. I'm not sure what color would be the best base for it, but definitely something brighter and more subtle than Buried Alive:

Orly: Buried Alive

This color was from the Dark Shadows collection, and I was lucky enough to snag one when Sally's had their 50% off clearance sale. I love the name, it's so Halloween, and of course totally fits into my present Halloween / Fall mindset lately 8-) Buried Alive is a brown with hmm, I'd say gold glass flecks. It's reminds me a bit of Loreal Owls Night (I think that's the name), but it doesn't have that green cast to it like the Loreal one does.

Soo pretty!

Orly: Sashay My Way

There are a bunch of layers in today mani! I started with WnW black, then added one layer of OPI Yodel Me on my Cell. YMOMC is soooo sheer! I only used one coat over the black and it still could have used another one or two more. So to jazz it up, I added Orly Sashay My Way over top that. I never thought I'd like the color combo of teal and gold so much, but these two colors just work. SMW is a clear base filled with gold hex and gold bar glitters.

Orly: Mermaid Tale

Green! I love these two colors together, I used Loreal Safari Chic as the base. SC is a nice sage green color, and overtop I used Orly's new color Mermaid Tale. MT is a clear base mixed with green micro glitter and green and aqua hexes. I topped it off with Out the Door fast dry top coat. I usually use Seche Vite, but was talked into trying OTD by the very helpful gal at Sally's. I've only used it for this one mani......so far, so good.

Orly: Oui

I got this polish at the end of the year when Sally's had that great clearance sale. This is Orly Oui, it has one of those super glass fleck finishes like Space Cadet. Oui is a purple base with gold duochrome.

In direct sunlight, you can't see much of the gold:

Sally Hansen: Glass Slipper + Orly: Androgynie

I really love Sally Hansen Glass Slipper. Its like snow in a bottle; clear base with white flecks. Here it is over Orly Androgynie, which is a black base with sliver glitter and multi colored hex glitter. Sounds good on paper, but I couldn't really see the glitter that well once it was on the nail. Check out the picks:

Here's the Orly by itself:

Orly: Space Cadet

So, I've never really done a proper swatch of Space Cadet....I just couldn't seem it catch it's duochrome-ness before....but today I think I've done it justice. I like Space Cadet, but I'm not in love with the foily finish. I'm not sure what it is about it, but the finish just seems to take something away from the color, like it's distracting, but not in a good way.

Here is a great bottle shot, if you enlarge it, you can really see the different colors:

Orly Crawford's Wine + Radar

I was lucky enough to grab Crawford's Wine from a coworker. Her mother purged a bunch of reds and this sucker ended up with me.

I probably wouldn't have picked this one out on my own, but once on, I really liked it.

...but again, no sparkle. So I added Sally Hansen's Limited Edition color Radar overtop. Radar is a brown jelly (yes, I said brown jelly! Don't think I've ever seen that before) with holo glitter. It's basically the same as the color Magnet I showed earlier, just with a brown base. This give it a kind of brick red look. Very nice.

And under my Ikea lamp the brown shows up more.

Orly: Royal Velvet + Nfu Oh 51

I picked up Orly's Royal Velvet at my local Ulta and used my free polish reward. I didn't see the spring display out, and this one was just sitting in a random spot by itself. I think it was meant to be mine ☺ It's a great blue / purple duochrome.

This is 3 coats.

Now, I know I've been Clarins 230 post happy lately, so thanks for putting up with me there. But if anyone wants a decent dupe, grab Nfu Oh's 51. It's a great inexpensive way to dull the lemming. It is very similar with a purple base and color shifting flakies.

This is one coat of 51 over Royal Velvet.

Scary!!! Naked Nails

I've never posted naked nails before...and technically these aren't naked. I'm using my new favorite base coat, Orly's Nail Armor. NA is described as "Liquid Nail Wrap with Ridgefiller". It contains little tiny silk fibers that are supposed to help strengthen nails. So far, so good. This is only one coat.

Orly: Rockin' Rocket + Milani Jewel FX: Gold

Now this color is more my style. I just picked up this one from Sally's after Christmas clearance sale. It's a nice deep red with some awesome gold shimmer, which I love.

and because I never know when to stop, I added Milani's Jewel FX in Gold to my ring finger (or should I say bling finger? I know, groan...but I had to say it! LOL) Wow, this is kinda cool and definitely different.

Comparison: Frosty vs Winter Wonderland

I originally bought Winter Wonderland at Sally's because I had seen swatches of Frosty and thought it would kill my lemming. I should have known better! LOL. They are not as close as I had hoped.

Frosty is more of a white color with a kind of glass fleck to it and Winter Wonderland leans more toward silver and is chalk full of glass flecks.

Here is a bottle pick of both:

Once you see the two together, you can really see the difference:

I think I prefer Frosty, but they're a close tie. Don't forget to click on the picks for a larger view.

Orly: Winter Wonderland + China Glaze: Party Hearty

So, I orginally bought Winter Wonderland to kill my Frosty lemming. For those of you who have Frosty, what do you think...do I need both?

WW is a pretty white glass flecky color. I was wearing it for about three days and it's held up perfectly. So I decided to add a layer China Glaze Party Hearty overtop to change the look without having to redo an enter mani (lazy!). PH is the coolest Holiday color to come out all year!! It's a mixture of silver, green and red glitter, the red makes me think of holly berries ☺

Orly: Glam Rock

This color is an all time favorite of mine, it's Orly's Glam Rock. GR is a warm toned gold color with a metallic matte finish. I previously swatched it here; but this color is another one that screams FALL to me so I wanted to revisit it.

Sunlight:

So pretty! So I think I need more Orly's. Can anyone suggest a good color?

Pumpkin Glitter; Bloom Mena + Orly Space Cadet

First, I wanted to say thank you to ChaosButterfly for nominating me for the The Sunshine Award. I really appreciate it!! Please visit her blog here.

I ended up picking up another Pumpkin glitter. It's the same as the blue one I showed you, but it's red. The label on it also says Chunky Nail. Here is the blue one overtop my last Halloween Mani:

Can you see how it's actually an ice blue color instead of the darker blue the 1st picture showed? I adore this color!

My current NOTD is Orly's Space Cadet, but I wanted to layer one coat over black. The black color I choose is Bloom Mena. This pick was taken next to a lamp, but see the awesome rainbow on the bottle?

Once on the nail though, you don't see the holo unless in direct sunlight. It applies like a dream though and is great for Konading. I added one layer of Orly's Space Cadet overtop:

Space Cadet is so pretty. It shows mostly purple and green on me. If you're on the fence about picking it up, I would recommend it! It applies beautifully and the color is amazing.

Maybelline: Bronze Beam + Orly: Prisma Gloss Gold

In keeping with my fall mood, I choose a brown for my next mani. This one has been sitting in my untrieds for a while. It's Maybelline Bronze Beam which I picked up at Dollar Tree. The bottle color is a brown color with gold flecks.

Orly Prisma Gloss Gold is a clear topcoat with gold holographic micro glitter.

So here is the Maybelline by itself:

and with one coat of the Orly. It just gives it a subtle holo to it without really changing the color. I really like this combo.
