China Glaze: Side Saddle + Ulta Bombshell

I got Sidesaddle for Christmas, and what an amazing color. I originally thought it was brown, but when I put it on, I realized it was a rich purple color with some brownish shimmer to it...and because I'm addicted to all things glitter lately, I added Ulta's Bombshell to the ring finger as an accent. You can click the picks for a larger view.

I really like the combo. And I'm totally loving the new camera! These two picks were taken under an OTT light.

Del Sol Color Changing Polishes - Holiday Editions

Del Sol polishes are so cool. When I saw swatches of Trick or Treat, I knew I had to have it. So I ordered that and the Christmas colors from eBay.

Indoor Bottle Colors: Holly Berry is a red base with red glitter, the bottle looks a lot like Ruby Pumps. Tinsel Toes looks like yellow glitter in a clear base. Silver Bells is interesting. It's a clear base with silver glitter, but swatched you can see little bits of red glitter thrown in. You don't see that in the bottle. Heartbreaker is a deeper red / maroon-ish color with lighter red and sparse amts of gold glitter mixed throughout. Lastly, Trick or Treat is an awesome orange holographic glitter. I ♥ this one.

Here they are swatched. Check out the bits of red in Silver Bells.

and in sunlight: Holly Berry turns a darker maroon-ish red glitter. Tinsel Toes transforms into an amazing red base with gold and red glitter showing through - this is so pretty!! Silver Bells turns into a gold glitter with red bits mixed throughout (cute!). Heartbreaker is now a purple base with the red and gold glitter showing throughout and lastly, Trick or Treat becomes a black base with holo glitter.

My Current NOTD is Ulta's Little Black Dress topped with Cover Girl's City Lights. This is my NYE mani, and after a couple of days it's still holding strong. So far, I'm liking the Ulta polishes. I picked up 4 this past weekend when they were B2G2.

Santa got me a new camera for Christmas, so all these picks were taken with the new one. I really love the Macro, it picks up great detail.

Coupla Holo Frankens

So, I got the idea to franken Wet and Wild Kaleidoscope with Fantasy Makers holo glitter after reading this post on MUA. So I added the glitter to Kaleidoscope (silver), WnW Black Creme and WnW Blue Moon and here are the results.

Click on the pick to check out the closeup, especially the silver:

The bottle of black looks amazing:

But too bad the holo doesn't show up that much on the nail. Overall, I'm happy with my frankening today.

Happy New Year!

Gold Glitter Comparison

So, I was organizing my stash tonight and thought these colors deserved a comparison. They are all gold glitters with reds mixed in.

If you click on the pick, you'll get a super-sized closeup.

They're all quite similar. Magical is pretty sparse, so I don't think you'd be able to wear it by itself. The other two are similar, but Gold Glitz is a much warmer shade than Gift of Gold. I just love all these warm golds. I'm going to hit Ulta tomorrow in the hopes that I can find a full sized Gift of Gold on clearance, wish me luck!

Thanks for looking!

Update: I was able to grab the last bottle of Gift of Gold at Ulta today for $4.99 clearance (full sized). I found it on accident, it was mixed in with some drugstore polishes. I also got the green glitter from the Burlesque collection, I don't remember the name. Other than that, Ulta was already wiped out of clearance polishes, but at least I got the one I was looking for. Yay!

Wet n Wild: Glitz and Glam pt 2

This collection is so worth hunting down...I mean they're only 99 cents! And I love that all the names are New Year's themed. After swatching the colors from yesterday's post, I went back and picked these up from Rite Aid. There are still like maybe three other colors I passed on from this set.

This "effect" is called Confetti. I forget to mention yesterday that they call the top coats in this collection "effects". Like it's fancier that way ♥ Confetti is a milky base with iridescent glitter:

Not much on it's own, but layered over Femme Noir, it really shows off.

The 2nd "effect" is Fireworks. This is a clear base with dense gold micro glitter and holo hex glitter. Another gold glitter in this collection, but Fireworks and Tipsy look nothing alike.

This one can be worn on it's own. I have it also layered over Femme Noir and it's almost too dense to layer.

This next color is called Champagne. What an awesome color! I don't know if you'd call it a foil? It has that feel to it. I love it, it's very unique, I don't think I have another color in my collection that looks anything like it.

So pretty!

The last color I got is Extravaganza. It's a cranberry color with a gold shimmer to it.

Unfortunately, my camera just plain refused to capture the gold shimmer on the swatch, but if you look at the bottle pick, you can see it there.

What do you all think of this collection? I'm very happy with it and I think it has some great colors. And for 99 cents each? You should grab 'em.

Wet n Wild: Glitz and Glam pt 1

I guess these would be considered New Year's colors with names like Midnight and Tipsy? They're from the Glitz and Glam collection.

Midnight is definitely a relative of Wild Orchid. Although it's not the same shade, it's close. It's a blurple color with the same holo glitter as Wild Orchid. Ooh, I should do a comparison....I smell a future post coming on.....

Now Tipsy is a clear base with gold-ish coppery micro glitter. Gold glitter is very IN this year, huh? I really like that most golds this season are a warmer shade. That's more my style.

and here we have Tipsy by itself and layered over my favorite base, Femme Noir. I love how fine the glitter is:

I love the combo of Femme Noir with the gold glitter.

OPI: Ulta Holi-Daze

Look what I grabbed from Ulta! This trio is an Ulta exclusive holiday set by OPI. I ended up getting the mini set:

It includes three colors; All the Berry Best, Gift of Gold and Plum Full of Cheer. Click the pick for a closeup:

All the Berry Best is a bright pinkish red. Gift of Gold is an awesome gold glitter, warmed up with a bit of red micro glitter thrown into the mix. I was surprised how much I liked this swatched, I may have to go back for the full sized bottle. The last color is Plum Full of Cheer. It's a nice dark purple shimmer.

Essence: Choose Me

Another Ulta find here and my 1st Essence color. I wish Ulta would get the magnetics though....sigh. I do have 2 Loreal's and one Lancome magnetic, but more is always better. Those just do the star pattern, the Essence's have a cool magnet that does a bar effect. Magnetic polish just rocks.....

Anyways, on to the color at hand. Choose Me is a teal-ish blue color with glass flecks:

and swatched. You can really see the glass flecks. The bottle color shows a bit darker. I wonder if this one would look ok layered over a darker teal/blue? Hmm.

China Glaze Christmas Colors

I don't have the entire set, so I'm only posting what I do own; Frosty, Mrs Claus, Mistletoe Kisses, Phat Santa, Sugar Plums, Jolly Holly and Party Hearty. Click on the pick for a larger version:

and here are the swatches:

I experimented with layering Party Hearty over a red and a green. Here it is over Phat Santa:

But it looks best over Jolly Holly. Now this is the holly look I was going for when I tried to layer Spark my Mistletoe over Jolly Holly. I think this will be my Christmas day mani. It's so festive.
