More layers please!

I am all about layering polishes lately, it seems like I'm never satisfied with just a nice cream anymore, I need shimmer or glitter to make me happy. I ADORE Germanicure by OPI, in fact, it's one of my favorite polishes, but I still felt the need to add some umph to it. Even though I wanted it give it a kick, I didn't want to totally distract from the awesomeness that is GBO, so I decided to add a layer of Pure Ice Heartbreaker....and wow! That did it, the perfect amount of umph. Check it out:

At certain angles, there is a hint of blue, and of course the signature green shimmer from Heartbreaker. ♥
.

Ok, so what do you think of the pairing? I say its a major WIN! LOL.

I like it, it has layers!

Ha ha, has anyone seen 7 Psychopaths? If so, I'm sure you recognize the name of the post. I adore Christopher Walken and I adore today's mani. It sort of happened by mistake, but sometimes my unintended experiments really work out for the best. LOL. This is a mixture of China Glaze Grape Pop, Pure Ice Heart Breaker and Color Club Snow Flakes. ♥

Here's a closeup. Grape Pop starts off with a nice base, but the addition of Heart Breaker makes it lend more towards a blue color. Topping that you get the colors of gold, green and yellow from Snow Flakes, while at the same time, the shimmer from Heart Breaker peeks through. This really is a very pretty mix and a new favorite. I'll be wearing this combo intentionally next time ;-)

My School Colors

So, I was looking at my graduation tassel hanging up in my room the other day - my school colors were orange and black - so it inspired me to do a couple of orange and black manis today. Yeah, I know it screams Halloween, but I don't care ☺

This is Pure Ice crackle in Crushed overtop WnW Black Creme. I love when crackles have shimmer to them.

Now this is one coat of Wet n Wild Fastdry in 9021 Orange. It's a very sheer glass fleck color, but when worn overtop WnW Black, it kind of looks gold instead of orange.

So I decided to layer it over Cover Girl Candy Corn to see if it looked any different....better, but still gold.

Milani Jewel FX: Hot Pink

Hot Pink is another one of the new Jewel FX polishes that Milani just released. It's a mixture of dark pink and holo silver hex glitter in a clear base. I decided to layer it over my Pure Ice Heartbreaker mani from the other day.

I just got this email from Milani:

I've picked up Red, Hot Pink, Teal, and Lavender. I've seen Fuchsia, but have not seen any of the others yet.

Pure Ice: Heartbreaker

I have been after this color ever since I saw this post from The Swatchaholic. Heartbreaker is a shimmer suspended in a milky clear base, the shimmer shifts from blue to green. It reminds me of the color morphing pigments. Check out in the picks how my index finger is blue but by the time you get to my pinkie its green. Love this! This is one coat layered over Eleese purple.

Revlon: Facets of Fuchsia

Facets of Fuchsia is a dupe for Deborah Lippman's Bad Romance,so I was pretty happy when I found this sucker at Walgreens. It's a sheer black base with bits of micro and larger hex glitters mixed in. This is one coat over Pure Ice Taupe Drawer.

Here is the Pure Ice by itself:

My (not as great) version of Paradoxal

I really like Chanel's Paradoxal, but I saw this dupe on Lacquer Laine's blog and I wanted to give it a try before I shell out the $$ for the real thing. I didn't have the Orly color she used, so I substituted with Pure Ice's Busted.

The base is Confetti's Moonstruck, which is a smokey purple based taupe color. I used one coat of Orly's Nail Armor (love the stuff!), two coats of Moonstruck and one coat of Posh (I just replaced my Seche Vite with Posh, so hopefully it'll help with the shrinkage!).

and this is with one coat of Pure Ice Busted on top:

Unfortunately, not as close as I'd hoped, Lacquer Laine's is much nicer. I think if I found a better color to get the purple shimmer, than I'd be on to something. But for now, it's a nice way to dull the lemming ☺

Here's an updated pick of the break on the ring finger. I've been silk wrapping it and adding a layer of no-light gel overtop to keep it from breaking. So far seems to be working, but my nail beds are very curved (like a C shape) and this particular nail is much flatter than the others because the brake is right at the smile line.

Pure Ice Taupe Drawer + Busted

Pure Ice polishes can be found at Walmart. There are actually two different shades named Taupe Drawer. Mine is a kind of dusty purple color, and I believe the other is a dusty pink. This is two coats without top coat.

Busted is a sheer jelly base with purple glass fecks. This is one layer over Taupe Drawer.

Cover Girl Mauvelicious with Pure Ice Busted

Cover Girl Mauvelicious is a neutral mauve color. When I bought it, I thought it would be a cream, but it's actually a jelly finish. So it's very sheer and kind of boring on it's own because of that, so I added a layer of Pure Ice Busted over top. Busted is a sheer glass fleck purple color. Here is the result:

Not bad, but definitely boring....I've been in a vampy mood lately and this just isn't doing it for me.
