Color Club: The Great Divide

Like everyone else in the polish community, I probably own more crackle polishes than I know what to do with lately, so when I add another crackle to the collection, it's gotta be a good one. When I saw this in the bottle, I just had to give it a try. It's like Charla went over to the darkside.

This crack is kinda finicky like the Kleancolors, you have to get the polish at that right stage of wet/but/still/dry. I think they work best with foils or holos that dry faster. This is the 1st polish I was able to get TGD to crack properly on.

Here it is over the Snowman gold foil from the other day. I sort of have an accidental UofM theme going on! LOL.

I adore this little guy!!

Sally Hansen Crackle: Antiqued Gold

What a great crackle color!! I only picked up this one from the SH crackle line and wow, I'm impressed. I started with yesterday's mani. I wore it for a couple of days and was just starting to get some tipwear.

and I added one heavy coat of Antiqued Gold overtop:

AG is a gold foil finish, pretty unique for a crackle polish. I really love the combo of gold / deep red. So pretty!!

Epic Win! HD under 239 Teal Crackle

Warning, this combo is going to make you want to go out and buy Teal Crackle, like today. I started with Milani's HD as a base. HD is a silver, what I like to call a flek holo finish. It's kind of got that China Glaze Kaleidoscope look to it.

and now...love....#239 Teal Crackle. I adore the crackle pattern!

and under the Ikea lamp, you can see the bits of holo from under the Teal. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!

So, this color cracked best out of the 4 Kleancolors I tried. I believe the others kind of buckled instead of cracked because of the humidity. I still need to try Green, Purple and Red, but I'm going to have to wait for milder weather first.

Sally Hansen Opulent Cloud + 240 Blue Crackle

This was the "it" color on MUA a couple of years ago. I remember trying to hunt this puppy down at the time, it was not easy to find ☺

Opulent Cloud is a nice purple-y silver base with a tan flash. I think the purple shows mostly in the bottle, on the nail, it's primarily silver.

Then I decided to try out another Kleancolor crackle, #240 Blue. This one kind of buckled again. I think maybe I didn't wait long enough for the base color to dry or it was the humidity. The Kleancolor crackles seem to be pretty finicky....it does show promise though. I like the contrast of the blue and silver.

OPI Extra-va-vangza + 243 Black Crackle

I really love OPI's glitter polishes, in fact I can't wait for the Muppet collection! I'm gonna be all over that!! Here is Extra-va-vangza from the Burlesque collection. This is an orange toned multi-colored glitter.

And I added Kleancolor black crackle overtop. Shew, when I used brown the other day, I was a bit worried over these, but black seemed to work properly.

I ♥♥♥ wearing glitters/holos under crackles!!!

China Glaze Cowardly Lyin + 242 Brown Crackle

Cowardly Lyin has been sitting in my untrieds for a while. I got it on Sally's clearance around Christmas time, so I thought it was high time I gave it a try.

What an odd color. It's a sheer frosty gold base with gold micro glitter. Not sure I love this one.

So I thought I'd try one of my new Kleancolor crackle polishes in brown. I was going for a kind of giraffe thing...

Well, it's didn't work out so well. It's been H O T in Michigan lately and very humid. I don't think crackles like to work in humidity, cuz like my Cover Girl one earlier, this one just sort of buckled instead of cracked. So far the Kleancolor crackles have not made a good 1st impression with me.

Eeeeww....sorry I made you look at that! ha ha.

Borghese: Stellare Notte - layerd mani fail

So I started with 2 coats of Stellare Notte. I'm sorry to say I was bored by it....these was no umph. I felt it needed to be dressed up a bit. I seem to need to add glitter to everything lately.

...so in an effort to change things up a bit without glitter, I added a layer of LA Color's Enchanting....and nope, didn't like this any better. It was just dull.

so I decided to add a layer of Cover Girl's crackle polish in Ghost overtop....and fail! I think it was the humid weather that day, but it just kind of buckled instead of cracked.

Blech, mani fail! I ended up removing it and starting over...I hate when that happens ☺

Subtle crackle

L O V E this mani! I used a dark purple jelly base and added one layer of LaRosa crackle polish in 01 - Maroon Red overtop. I really love Maroon Red, it's the only crackle color I own that has a shimmer to it. Make sure to click on the picks to see the detail.

I'd never heard of the brand LaRosa before, I just happened to be in a dusty when they got a shipment of them in. I was browsing online last night and I saw them available at LA Nail Supply if anyone's interested...and for a lot cheaper than I got mine! LOL. I've never purchased from LA Nail Supply before, so I can't personally vouch for them, but I just thought I'd put it out there. I have 01- Maroon Red and 10 - Snow White. My Bf Shmoopy got 09 - Sea Weed, 05 - Hot Orange (it's neon) and 11- Hot Purple. Hot Purple is another one that has shimmer to it.

LaRosa Crackle Shatter: Maroon Red

Here is my 2nd LaRosa Crackle polish. This is called Maroon Red, but as you can see, it's a reddish purple color. I wouldn't call it maroon. But what's so cool about it is that it has a shimmer to it. I don't think I've ever seen a crackle polish with shimmer.

Check it out (make sure to click the pick for a larger version):

OK, so I adore this crackle pattern!! I really like the larger chunks of polish rather than the skinny threads. What I did was swipe the polish up and down vertically like normal, but before it dried (work fast!) swipe it to the side in a 90 degree angle. I alternated one nail 90 degrees to the right and the one next to it to the left.

The base color is another amazing Shmoopy franken:

I only got two of the LaRosa's, but my BF Shmoopy got 3 others. Here are all five swatched. I think there were like 8 or so different ones.

You can't really tell in the photos, but this is neon.

This is a different purple than the one I got, this one has the shimmer too. Awesome!

LaRosa Crackle Shatter: Snow White + OPI Glow Up Already

I went dusty hunting with my BF Shmoopy today, and we came across the unknown brand of crackle polishes called LaRosa. This color is #10 Snow White. (I also got a purple one I'll post about later this week)

Bottle shot:

Here is one coat over OPI's Glow Up Already:

Glow Up Already solo:

I adore the glitter crackle combo! I'm in absolute love with this mani ♥♥♥
Just cuz it's so awesome, here's another shot:

OPI Black Shatter!

I found Black Shatter today at my local JC Penny salon and I couldn't wait to try it out..I got the last bottle ☺

This is one heavier coat over my layered mani. I'm going to have to think of another good base color to try it over....

I really love the flakies underneath.

Halloween Nails

So from now until Christmas is my favorite time of year. I adore fall and the Holidays coming up (especially Halloween), so I've decided to do a series of Halloween inspired mani's from now until October 31st. Here is my first.

The base color is Diamond Cosmetics in Mystical Knights. It's a beautiful dark blue color with a hint of a frost.

And I topped it with a recent Dollar Store find, Cover Girl Crackle polish in Jack O Lantern. I had previously swatched this on a popsicle stick, but this is the 1st time on the nail. What a freaking cool effect this is, it's so Halloween! I used two coats over the Mystical Knights. I love how the blue base kind of glows through the orange.

Please excuse the raindrop on my ring finger in this shot....

Dollar Tree combo pack

I recently grabbed this combo pack from the Dollar Tree. The first color is Cover Girl Nail Slicks in Chocolate Mint. The bottle color is, well a chocolate brown color (I know, creative, huh?) with a mint green shimmer.

and here is a swatch..the shimmer is pretty noticeable in natural light, but not as much indoors:

Now this is the reason I bought the combo. This is Cover Girl Crackle polish in Jack-O-Lantern. The bottle color is a bright orange.

This is two coats over Jordana's Night Fall. I looks like the polish would just flake off, but it didn't. This is without a topcoat.
