Funky Fingers: Sand and Stilettos

So, the other day, I decided to break out my Funky Fingers Sand and Stilettos again, and I just had to re-post it. The amount of sparkle this polish gives off, even in low light, is just amazing. It's a scattered holo, but it sparkles so many different colors. The glitter lays pretty flat, it's not chunky like some of the Color Clubs (Magic Attraction, anyone?). Check out some picks:

Here's a good blurry one to show off all the colors:

Cookies and Cream

I love black glitters - I currently have Wet n Wild Tangled in my Web and LA Girls glitter Uninhibited. Since I only own the two, I thought I'd do a quick comparison, using Kleancolor White as the base.

TIMW is a clear base with black hex glitter, whereas Uninhibited has black micro glitter with black hexes. Once I swatched Uninhibited over white, it instantly reminded me of cookies and cream ice cream ☺

So, it turns out the perfect ingredients for a Cookies and Cream manicure are a base of Kleancolor White with one coat of LA Girls Uninhibited. Mmmmmm.

RCM: Midnight Affair + NOPI Bring on the Tinsel

So far, my absolute favorite color in the RCM line is Midnight Affair. This is after 1 week of wear and still holding strong. The top coat is a bit scuffed up because I changed up the mani by layering over it several times throughout the week. Midnight Affair is a super vampy cobalt blue jelly LED gel polish. It's my new favorite blue. It's so dark, but you can totally tell it's blue, even in low light....perfection!

Here is MA layered with NOPI's Bring on the Tinsel. MA makes a wonderful base for other colors. I think these two look great together.

Dry Water Marble trial

I first heard of dry water marbling from More Nail Polish's Blog post and I knew I just had to try it out. Basically, you transfer the water marble pattern on plastic, let it dry and then transfer the color to your base color.

I used Essie's One Day without Blues and Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost. I really need to work on my technique. I think I need to watch some of Colette's videos. She's a water marble genius and I know I could use some pointers! LOL. Anyways, here's what I came up with. This was over my Zoya Gemma mani from last Friday:

Not too bad for a 1st try ☺

500 Follower Mini Giveaway

Since I'm only 7 people away from 500 followers, that's close enough right? I thought I'd start this a bit early. I just wanted to say that I appreciate everyone who follows and comments, thank you so much.

The winner will receive five polishes from the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Halloween collection.

All five polishes are new and never used, the bottles in the photo are from my collection. The colors include Skeleton - a white base with iridescent glitter, Trick or Treat - a black base with the same iridescent glitter as Skeleton, Witches Brew - a black base with orange micro glitter, Jack-O-Lantern - an orange base with orange glitter and lastly, Slime - a green base with green glitter.

The rules are nice and simple. The only mandatory one is that you must be a follower of this blog with GFC. You can earn extra entries by liking Crystal Visions on Facebook or adding Crystal Visions to your blogroll.

Bar Nails

Super bling! I wanted something flashy for going out this weekend, so I decided I was going to wear OPI's Save Me. It's a super sparkly silver micro glitter with multi colored holo bar glitter in a clear base. Shew, that's alot going on! LOL. Here it is overtop Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost:

Eggplant Frost is a purple with a strong blue shimmer. Very pretty on it's own and only costs a buck! I think it got a bit lost in Save Me, but I still had a great time wearing the two together.

Zoya: Gemma

So, the 1st thing I think of when I hear the name Gemma is, of course, Son's of Anarchy. I ♥ that show, and Katey Sagal's character kicks butt.

Gemma the polish also kicks butt! It's a sage green cream with an amazing blue-ish purple-ish shimmer to it. I absolutely adore this color.

Red Sparkly GEL Mani

For this mani, I used a base color from Red Carpet Manicure called You Like Me, You Really Like Me - which is a darkish red jelly. Overtop, I used RCM I Can't Believe It, which is silver micro glitter and mini silver holo hexes in a clear base. What I really love about glitter GEL polishes is that with the top coat, they are so smooth and shiny, never lumpy.

Duochrome Flakie Heaven

Today, I decided to pair up a couple of my favorite polishes, Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Turquoise Opal topped with Nfu Oh 40. I layered TO overtop my Midnight Affair gel mani (still going strong after a week) and then added NF 40 overtop. TO is an amazing multi chrome polish, you get blue, purple and teal all wrapped in one. NF 40 is a clear base with flakies that flash green and blue.

There is Turquoise Opal solo.

Happy Friday the 13th!

I'm really looking forward to tonight, we have tickets to see J & Silent Bob Get Old at the old Redford Theater, 4th row center. Should be fun!!!

I wanted my mani for the show to be fun too, so I decided to layer Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell overtop my Midnight Affair gel mani. Look at how amazingly awesome this combo is, there are so many different colors going on in that glitter! Red, yellow, green, blue....everyone should own this color.

Milani One Coat Glitter: Twinkle

So, this is called a One Coat Glitter, and I used one coat here.....it was hardly enough coverage to be opaque in one coat. I've found that to be true with some of the other OCG's in the new collection. The base color is Red Carpet Manicure Midnight Affair. MA is a nice cobalt blue jelly LED gel polish, and Twinkle is a mixture of blue and purple glitter in a clear base. MA is just a dark enough blue that the lighter shade in Twinkle is still visible.

Milani One Coat Glitter: Pink Flair

I'm not a pink lover...like at all and I think this polish make a total of 4 pinks in my entire collection....I could never be a part of Pink Wednesdays!! ha ha. But this is just so cute and girly that I adore it for some reason. Probably because it's not a color I would usually wear and it sparkles like crazy. I thought it would make a good Easter mani, nice and pastelly light, but with character ☺

Everyone have a great day today!!

Sinful Colors Cinderella

Since it's Easter weekend, I thought I'd go all pastel on you today with Sinful Colors Cinderella. Cinderella is a very sheer blue with pink glass fleck shimmer. I layered it here over Essie One Day Without Blues. ODWB is a wonderful light blue that worked as the perfect base color for this mani.

OPI: Absolutely Alice

Here's an oldie but goodie, Absolutely Alice from OPI. I adore this glitter, it's full of blue micro glitter with a bit of gold speckled throughout. The gold gives it a nice sparkle...although my photos make the gold seem silver here....

RCM: And the Winner Is

Here is the second Gel Polish I picked up, it's called And the Winner Is. This is a very hard color to capture, I just couldn't seem to get my camera to focus on it. I don't know if it was the shade of teal or the sparkly finish?

This was right after application:

I tried to get a bit closer to the cuticle this time, so after a week, I wouldn't have that large new growth gap like last time.

I tend to get bored with a mani after a day or usually two max, so after the 3rd day, I added Fauxnad to it using China Glaze Isicle:

And after the 5th day, the color is still perfect. I added black tips for a funky french using Wet n Wild Black Creme and scotch tape:

Polish Jewelry

I've always wanted to try my hand at making polish jewelry. After some looking, I found a great tutorial online at Sweeter Lemon's blog. She gives great step by step directions. I ordered my supplies from Etsy and just finished my 1st two pendant necklaces. It really was pretty easy and it's so much fun.

This is using the Glitter Bomb franken my BF Shmoopy made me:

This is using Diamond Cosmetics Royal Fools Gold as the base and Sally Hansen crackle in Antiqued Gold.
