China Glaze Magnetix: Drawn to You

Drawn to you is a pinky-purple magnetic polish with a bit of glitter. I really love when they add glitter to the magnetics, the glitter settles into the darker part of the design and seems to make the pattern look a bit more dramatic. I used the China Glaze magnet for this mani. My only critique about this color is that the design faded by the end of the day.

PHD: Born 2 be Wild

Here is the last of my three PHD polishes. I wanted to wear this one because it's so in your face bright and for some reason seems very spring to me. It has the same gold shimmer in the other two colors, and I really like that combo with the green.

Franken time!

Today I have a very simple franken to show you, I used WnW clear, Maybelline Acoustic Azure, silver hex glitter and silver holo glitter. AA was a great base to use, it's so pigmented that it holds up well to the addition of clear. I'm a terrible namer, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

My School Colors

So, I was looking at my graduation tassel hanging up in my room the other day - my school colors were orange and black - so it inspired me to do a couple of orange and black manis today. Yeah, I know it screams Halloween, but I don't care ☺

This is Pure Ice crackle in Crushed overtop WnW Black Creme. I love when crackles have shimmer to them.

Now this is one coat of Wet n Wild Fastdry in 9021 Orange. It's a very sheer glass fleck color, but when worn overtop WnW Black, it kind of looks gold instead of orange.

So I decided to layer it over Cover Girl Candy Corn to see if it looked any different....better, but still gold.

Gelish / Red Carpet Manicure review

I mixed the two systems together. For this mani, I used the Red Carpet Manicure Professional LED Light (from Meijer), the Gelish Basix kit (from Sally's Beauty) and RCM Gel Color in Lighter Shade of Gray. I have to say it was very easy and surprisingly quick to use, and boy was it great to have a perfectly dry mani the second it was done. I could get used to that! LOL.

The color went on so easy, I didn't need to do any cleanup, although, I think I need to do a better job of wrapping the tips.

Here's how it looked right after initial application:

This is on day five. The left hand was identical as the 1st day, it just showed some new growth.

But my right hand had a chip in it.

Removal was so easy, I wasn't expecting that. I used the foil method, and after waiting 15 minutes, the gel just slid right off the nail. I just bought a new teal color that I'll be trying next.

Has anyone else tried gel polish before?

Nabi Magnetics: Dark Wine

Dark Wine is another great magnetic polish by Nabi. It has a bit of glitter to it which settles in the dark part of the design and I adore the look of this polish! Nabi's are definitely my favorite magnetic polishes, but they are so thick and gloopy. Even so, I ended up getting 8 colors and may have to grab more while I'm able to find them in person. Does anyone else have any Nabi's? What do you think of them?

China Glaze OMG Collection: TTYL

Man, I wish I would have gotten more colors from the OMG collection when they were still readily available. One of the colors I did get is TTYL, which is a peach colored linear holo. It's not much to look at in regular light, but man, when you get some sunshine or good lighting, the holo really comes out.

Black Cat - holo franken

I know I already swatched this around Halloween, but I was just in the mood. This is my Spectraflair franken I named Black Cat. I just used WnW Black Creme, WnW clear and some Spectraflair (fine grade). I love the result, but it makes me want to get some of the coarser grade from More Nail Polish while it's still available!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails; Fly Away

This is another one of those brilliant accidentally awesome polishes I got in a Dollar Tree 2 pack. In the bottle this looks like a peachy-pink sheer color, but over black, it's a subtle, but pretty purple-green duochrome.

Sinful Colors: Red Ocean

So, yesterday was all about Green Ocean, so today I thought I'd show off Red Ocean. I know I used a Rimmel red jelly color as the base, but I can't seem to find the bottle, so I don't know the name of the color. Sorry! Like GO, Red Ocean is a combo of chunky flakies and glitter in a very sheer red jelly base. It's really just a topcoat, there's no way it would be opaque on it's own. You just have to enlarge the picks to really see the detail. I was lucky enough to find this at Meijer a couple of years ago. They had Red Ocean, Pink Ocean and Deep Red Ocean all in it's own display....and of course I got all three ☺

Tonight's the Night for Drinking!

Tonight's the night for green beer and great Irish music! Speaking of, if you're ever in Michigan, you should check out my favorite Irish band, Blackthorn

So today I really wanted to show off Sinful Colors Green Ocean. Like the other Ocean colors, it has a very sheer tinted jelly base, flakies and glitter all mixed together.

This is over yesterday's Zoya mani:

and over Sinful Colors Daddy's Girl:

Everyone have a great night tonight!

Zoya Veruschka

This is such a pretty color, I don't know why I don't wear mattes more often. I got this in a Black Friday promo Zoya did a couple of years ago, and I'm so happy this was one of the colors included. As it often happens with me, I would have never picked this one out myself, but once I used it, I really liked it.

Nabi Magnetics: Teal

Now you know I just have to show off a magnetic polish for St. Pat's week, and Nabi Teal is the perfect choice. It's a rich emerald green with green glitter, and sooo pretty. Now for some reason, this just did not want to photograph well for me, I must have taken a hundred photos of it! But some polishes are just finicky that way ☺

A Green Mani for the week of St Pattie's Day

I was trying to think of a good green for a St Patrick's Day mani and can't believe how much trouble I was having finding the right shade. I started with Zoya Suvi and it just wasn't right, so I added a layer of Zoya Envy to it....too dark. Then I added one more layer of Zoya Irene and was finally happy ☺

Than, I used an Art Deco green glitter striper to add a thin french at the top....very subtle.

and finally topped it all off with Nfu Oh 40.

PHD: Mint Green Shimmer

Here's another PHD polish I have to show you. The label was missing, so I don't know the proper name, but it's a mint green with the same shimmer as Jazzy Blues. In fact, that gold shimmer is in all three of the colors I have, and the addition of that shimmer to a kinda boring mint green base really makes the color interesting...although it gives it a bit of a frosty finish where you can see some brushstrokes.

Nabi: Dark Purple

Well, all I can say is wow, wow, wow! I love this so much! The only bad thing to say is the formula was V E R Y thick and gloopy....are magnetic polishes ok to use thinner on? I don't want to ruin it, so I was afraid to try it out.

I love how the dark parts look black and the pattern is a nice bright purple. This would be great during Halloween ☺

Oops, grabbed the wrong bottle! LOL.

Revlon: Whimsical - Re-swatched

Sooo, when I put on One Day Without Shoes yesterday, I can't believe I didn't think to use this as a base for Revlon Whimsical when I 1st swatched it. Truthfully, I think I forgot I owned it, I'm more of a vampy girl and don't really have any other colors like this. They go great together and I kind of have a crush on this combo right now.

Essie: One Day Without Blues

I won this color for being one of the 1st 5,000 people to like TOMS shoes on Facebook around this time last year. I normally wouldn't go for this type of blue, but I'm glad to have it in my collection. It feels so "Spring" to me.

Comparisons: Nabi Wine and Black Berry

I ordered Wine, Black and Dark Wine online, but was lucky enough to find a display at Walgreen before my package arrived. I got Black Berry, Dark Gold and Dark Purple at Walgreen. When I got my package in, I realized that two colors looked pretty similar - Wine and Black Berry. Well, after seeing both side by side, I'd say they're pretty much dupes of each other. Check it out:

Here are the bottles:

Nabi Magnetics: Wine

I've had my eye on the Nabi magnetics for a while now....I'm been lemming a red magnetic polish for some time and when I saw Enamel Girl's post on the color Wine, I immediately went and bought it off of eBay that same day.

(sorry I messed up my pinkie)

I also got the colors Black and Dark Wine in the same package. After doing some research, I found that they are available at Walgreens too. So, I started stalking the local stores, I finally found one with a display. Today I picked up Dark Gold, Dark Purple and Black Berry. I can't wait to show you all these awesome colors, but in the meantime, here are bottle shots.

Maybelline Salon Expert: Acoustic Azure

Today's NOTD is Acoustic Azure. This was a great Dollar Tree find, it's nice and pigmented. I only needed one coat for the picture.
